In recent years, the Star Wars franchise has undergone significant ups and downs, akin to navigating the icy expanses of Hoth or the Lava lands of Mustafar. I’ve said this before but the journey from source material can lead to both chilling disappointments and fiery wins. Take, for instance, the success of “The Mandalorian,” which captures the essence of Star Wars at its finest – mostly.. On the flip-side, we have misses, such as the lackluster reception of “Ahsoka,” despite the character being one of the best since Qui Gon Jinn.

This rollercoaster of quality releases has left many fans, myself included, cautiously optimistic whenever a new Star Wars “thing” drops. The trailers never fail to ignite excitement, yet there’s always a lingering butt-hole clenching feeling, perhaps fueled by past disappointments (thanks, Rian Johnson). So, when “The Acolyte” trailer made its debut today, I couldn’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and an interesting wave of nausea.

What sets The Acolyte apart is its potential to seriously add to the mythos left behind by George Lucas. It promises to delve deeper into the mysteries of the Star Wars universe, offering fans a real chance to for some deep and meaningful content. Something that, you know, us fanboys and girls crave!

Whatever the outcome, I’ll be tuning in to watch the first three episodes, and I encourage you to do the same. My rule of thumb is simple: if those initial episodes fail to engage, it’s often a sign to exit stage left. But for now, let’s ignore my click-bait title and remain hopeful so that we can embark on this journey together into the heart of The Acolyte because sometimes the waiting is the best part.

Que Tom Petty.
