One of the coolest aspects of Halloween is seeing all the exciting crossovers that happen. From basic cereals getting spooky makeovers to horror-themed commercials like Michaels spot I saw during the Packers game:

The season is full of surprises. It’s a time when everything, even the most everyday items, gets a creepy and fun twist.

Whatever the product or situation, I’m always down to clown when it comes to the ‘Ween. But I’m also constantly on the hunt for something fresh and unique. Well, I found it in my newest obsession—trading cards!

That’s right, folks—trading cards have gone  Halloween and horror, and it’s every bit as awesome as it sounds.

It’s well-known among hobbyists that the Pokémon company started the trend a few years ago with Halloween-themed packs, where the beloved pocket monsters got a fun and spooky transformation. However, I don’t recall ever seeing sports cards jumping on the Halloween train before. So you can imagine my surprise when I happened to stumble upon these treats. I honestly had no idea they did half of what I found – it’s incredible!

But my hobby bones crave more than just sports cards. As of 2023, I’ve fallen under the glowing spell of Magic: The Gathering. And just yesterday, they released a new horror set called Duskmourn and a Secret Lair drop focused on—you guessed it—HORROR! It’s a collector’s dream. These cards look absolutely sharp and downright wicked, with artwork that brings to life everything eerie and macabre. Seriously, check them out!

Seeing these horror/Halloween trading card crossovers made me hungry like a hungry wolf. I needed more, and by golly, I went on a full-blown hunt across the internet to find the most spine-chilling, killer horror/Halloween trading cards out there! And trust me, the treasures I found are nothing short of amazing. Check out my favorite discoveries!

As both a collector and seller of cool stuff, I honestly believe the trading card hobby is one of the best—and often most affordable—ways to collect things you’re passionate about. Whether it’s sports, pop culture, or in this case, horror, there’s a trading card for everyone. They literally have cards for everything, which is perfectly fine by me!

What I love about this hobby is it brings people together. I restarted my interest because of my step-sons love for Pokemon. Eventually that evolved to both of us hunting down sports cards. I started out with collecting Shohei Ohtani and he started going after soccer cards. Eventually, my brother found out about my new interest and lo and behold I find out he’s a Pokemon collector himself – like hardcore. We started attending card shows together and in turn rebuilt our relationship. The craziest thing is we know the same group of people from the hobby – that’s like finding the same pumpkin in a pumpkin patch! Cracking open packs with the kid and my brother created countless memories that I’ll cherish forever. It’s a healthy and lucrative hobby that is as essential as a good Halloween candle stink – just ask Martha.
