A couple of years ago, my family and I stumbled onto a show called From with zero expectations. What we got instead was one of the most gripping, scary, and intriguing series we’ve ever watched. We fell deep into the lore—pausing episodes, arguing theories, trying to piece together what the hell was going on.

Honestly, it was the first time in years a show pulled me in like that. The intrigue, man… the damn intrigue.

For those who haven’t seen it, From starts with a simple nightmare scenario: a small town in the middle of nowhere traps anyone who enters it. No matter how you try to leave, you end up right back where you started. And when the sun goes down, the real terror begins by way of creatures that look human who oh so gently knock on doors while smiling, asking to be let in – oh yeah it’s intense. The town survives only by following strict rules, marking homes with talismans, boarding up windows, and trying not to lose their minds. Good luck with that!

What makes the show so addictive isn’t just the monsters—it’s the mystery behind them, and the town. Every character brings something new to the puzzle, every episode gives you just enough answers to keep you hooked while raising ten more questions. It’s part horror, part psychological thriller, part puzzle-box storytelling in the best possible way.

Harold Perrineau is phenomenal as Boyd, the sheriff holding the town together by sheer force of will. Side note – he will ALWAYS be Mercutio to me! Anyways, the ensemble cast is strong, the atmosphere is oppressive in all the right ways, and the worldbuilding is cherry on top. If you love shows where you can obsess over clues, debate theories, and get that “what did I just watch?” feeling, this is it.

TV has been missing that in a big way. We have a lot of great shows, don’t get me wrong. But they aren’t these nail-biting, drama heavy rubik’s cube of sorts. And I think that’s what John Griffin, the creator of From understood when bringing this show to light.

We’ve been eagerly waiting for the next season, and it looks like it’s finally dropping soon. If you haven’t seen From, do yourself a favor and check it out. It’s on MGM+, and you will NOT be disappointed if you’re craving something that goes bump in the night—with solid drama, great characters, and, I can’t say it enough, Intrigue!
