Legendary.
Alright, friends, I’m calling it.
Fan Expo Chicago 2026 is shaping up to be the biggest convention ever.
That nail-biting “legendary guest” tease turned out to be none other than Kurt Russell, a man who has been cementing his pop culture legacy since the 1960s. Think about it: he appeared in It Happened at the World’s Fair alongside Elvis Presley, was personally selected by Walt Disney, and later became one of cinema’s greatest antiheroes as Snake Plissken. That’s a career most actors can only dream about.
But Kurt Russell is just the cherry on top of what may be the most stacked Fan Expo Chicago lineup yet.
We’re getting Kurt Russell, a special Lord of the Rings event, John Carpenter, Mel Gibson, and a Frank Miller panel. I covered Frank Miller’s appearance a few years ago, and it was an absolute comic book nerd’s dream come true. If you’re into comics, movies, horror, fantasy, or just pop culture in general, there’s something here for you.
This is going to require some serious Indiana Jones survival instincts—and that’s where we come in.
Over the coming months, we’ll be covering the who, what, where, and how of Fan Expo Chicago 2026 so that YOU, dear reader, can focus on having fun and, most importantly, surviving.
Now, let’s begin.
First Order of Business: GET YOUR TICKETS
Seriously.
If you haven’t purchased your tickets yet, why not?
This year’s show feels different. Between the celebrity lineup, special events, and guest announcements, this is shaping up to be one of those conventions people talk about for years afterward.

Second Order of Business: Study the Schedule
There is simply too much happening to fly casual.
Whether you’re there for the Kurt Russell experience, the Frank Miller panel, the Lord of the Rings festivities, celebrity autographs, cosplay workshops, or the endless shopping opportunities, you’ll have choices to make.
Look over the schedule in advance and identify your must-see events. Trust me, nothing hurts more than finding out afterward that you missed the one panel you really wanted to attend.
Third Order of Business: Build Your Adventure Bag
This might be the most important piece of advice in the entire article.
Bring water.
Bring snacks.
Bring pain relievers.
Bring phone chargers.
Bring anything that will help you survive a full day on the convention floor.
I’ve spent entire weekends covering Fan Expo, walking nearly every aisle, and by the end of Day Three, my body is usually negotiating surrender terms or a complete shutdown. A little preparation goes a long way.
Fourth Order of Business: Plan Your Travel
The convention center is easy enough to reach, and parking is available, but those lines can get brutal.
Arrive early.
Plan your route.
Know where you’re parking.
Know where you’re entering.
Because if you don’t, you may find yourself standing in a line that stretches all the way back to Mordor. And nobody wants that.
We’ll put a pin in things here for now. Consider this your Fan Expo Chicago 2026 Starter Kit.
We’ll have plenty more coverage in the months ahead, but these basics should give you enough to begin planning your adventure.
Fan Expo Chicago never disappoints, but this year feels different. This feels like the Year of Legends. More importantly, it feels like a year built specifically for fans.
And honestly? We could use that right now.
Until next time, dear friends!
